Berlin Crisis: The Western Powers respond to threats from the Soviet Union
Opening scene shows the Rathaus Schöneberg (John-F.-Kennedy-Platz, 10825 Berlin, Germany) where Mayor of Berlin Willy Brandt addresses a large crowd of West Berlin citizens, concerned about the building of the Berlin Wall by the Soviet Union. Many carry placards and signs, including some in English, reading: "We trust Kennedy, Pay any price, Bear any burden, for survival of Liberty" and "Millions behind the Iron Curtain ask for help." Scene shifts to a limousine driving into the center of a crowd. United States Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson steps from the car, accompanied by General Lucius D. Clay, who is seen next, with arm raised, acknowledging the crowd, while standing with Johnson and Brandt, at a podium cluttered with microphones. (Narrator refers to him as "Father of the Airlift.") The next day, British and American soldiers are seen driving in jeeps and trucks and M59 Armored Personnel Carriers, through cheering crowds, as they arrive to reinforce their Berlin garrisons. In the United States, on September 25, 1961, President John F. Kennedy, is addressing the UN General Assembly, in New York, about the dangerous crisis in Berlin. An escaped and then rescued American prisoner of war describes the Japanese death march to San Fernando
A representative of Prisoners War Branch (a MIS-X officer) interviews American soldiers who had escaped from the Japanese 10-A prison camp in Palawan, Philippines, and had then been rescued. Private first class Albert D Pacheco and Edwin A Petry share their experiences before they reached the World War 2 Japanese prison camp at Puerta Princessa, Palawan and the conditions there. Petry describes the famous five days long death march to San Fernando, where war prisoners were not given any food.

People in large numbers wait at the airport in Portland, Oregon for the arrival of President Dwight D. Eisenhower. Girls dressed in skirts carrying umbrellas with IKE written on them. President Eisenhower and his wife Mamie Eisenhower arrive on the Presidential aircraft --The Columbine--a C-121, Lockheed Constellation. They are welcomed by officials. President Eisenhower addresses the crowd from a dais and then his motorcade moves into the city. People stand by the roadside to welcome the President as he acknowledges the cheering crowds. United States 101st Airborne Division soldiers in Se San Valley, Cambodia
United States troops of the 506th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division in Cambodia, during the Vietnam War. Several soldiers are seen in wooded area. One talks over a PR-25 radio from a tree line at the edge of large open field. Another soldier slings an M-60 machine gun over his shoulder. Then, carrying their gear, the soldiers walk across the open field toward an area where a camp is being set up. The soldiers enter the tree line where others are assembling with their gear and supplies, next to the open field. The soldier carrying the M-60 machine gun, waves to the camera. Closeup of some soldiers who have pitched a couple of tents and are opening boxes of supplies. A change of scene shows several troops escorting a captured North Vietnamese army (NVA) soldier, whose hands are tied behind him, to a UH-1 helicopter with engine running. The Huey is next seen taking off with the prisoner aboard. Closeup of black NVA cap, left behind,in the mud. (Note: Within a few days, all these troops distinguished themselves in combat with North Vietnamese Army troops. One, in particular, Leslie H. Sabo, Jr. Specialist Fourth Class, of Company B, 3d Battalion, heroically sacrificed his life, in combat on May 10, 1970, and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.)
