American Expeditionary Forces(A.E.F.) 42nd (Rainbow Division) bury their fallen at Baccarat, France, in World War I
A cortege of U.S. Army trucks, covered with American flags and laden with flag-covered coffins of American soldiers,who fell in combat on May 27th, 1918,proceeds through the streets of Baccarat, France, in World War 1. U.S. soldiers of the 42nd Infantry Division march as escorts, beside the trucks. Local citizens observe from the sides of the road. Scene shifts to Memorial Day (May 30, 1918), when U.S. Army Major General Charles T. Menoher and U.S. Army Colonel Douglas MacArthur,of the 42nd Infantry Division, are joined by French Generals Dupont and Penet, in decorating the graves of fallen American soldiers, during a ceremony at a rugged battlefield cemetery containing new graves marked by wooden crosses. A little French girl places a bouquet (reportedly made by Major General Menoher) upon the grave of an American soldier.She is accompanied by other French children who also place bouquets on the graves. An honor guard of American soldiers fires a salute. Scene shifts to a gathering of American soldiers at their base in Baccarat, where they surround a small outdoor stage, to watch a Miss Hart, of the YMCA theatrical Corps dance the Higland Fling. She is dressed in traditional costume of Scotland and accompanied by a violinist. A group of Army musicians, seated close to the stage, watch the performance along with the rest of the troops.

The time is at end of World War 2. Slate describes this film as the Orphanage at Dachau. A bucolic scene shows horse-drawn wagon moving along country road, with twin spires of a church, visible in the background. Camera zooms in on church spires and roof, and then to a sign near the door reading,"DP Childrens Center, UNRRA, Team 182." (DP means Displaced Persons, UNRRA stands for United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration.) At the entrance, itself, a sign reads:"Ausländer Kinderstation, UNRRA, Ausschuss 182 (Foreign children's ward, UNRRA, committee 182). Children run down the stairs of the building and are seen, next, outdoors in a grassy churchyard of the camp, where they form a circle, hold hands, and dance and sing. Scene shifts to indoors in a high-ceilinged room filled with daylight from several large windows where the children sit for a nourishing mid-day meal. Men in military-like uniforms pass trays of food to children standing in line. A similarly-dressed woman helps several very small children down the stairs. A line of babies sit at a long table and are fed by a Nun in habit. Closeups of the babies trying to feed themselves. Next scene shows a Nun washing the babies, in a nursery, with cribs in the background. View of many pre-school age babies seated on the floor playing together with toys. Outside, in the grounds, school age boys play football (soccer), while schoolmates watch from the sidelines and cheer.

Application of assembly line techniques to production of Ford Model T automobiles
Actors recreate scenes at the Ford Motor Company in Detroit, Michigan during its early days. Ford hunches over a magazine, circa 1909, advertising the Model T Touring car for $850. He tries to figure how to lower prices so Ford workers, themselves, can afford to buy the cars they make. Sequence shows how teams of men first built individual cars, then specialized to build the same parts for all the cars; and finally how the moving assembly line came into being. Later actual sequences show the process adapted to subassembly of parts; and parts are seen being gravity-fed to workers. Finally, actual moving conveyer systems are shown in operation, with radiators, engines, chassis, and entire cars moving through the production lines. The result was that by 1916 a Ford Model T car could be purchased for $350. View of finished cars at end of Ford assembly line.
