Cardinals wear scarlet and Bishops wear royal purple dresses. Uniformed troopers of the Free State Forces are also present. About 200,000 people gathered to attend the High Mass.

Two uniformed guards, in kilts, ride in the rear of the carriage. Along the way, the carriage stops briefly, as the Queen accepts a large basket of flowers from two girls (possibly the twin daughters of Sir John and Lady Arnott ).
