Huge crowd of people fills New York City street during the Great Depression, in 1930. Some carry signs reflecting economic woes. One reads:"$25.00 a week for UNEMPLOYED."Others read: "No work, No rent;" "Down with Vagrancy Laws;" and "Join Unemployees Council." Scene shifts to Police arriving and arresting a woman and a man whom they escort into a Paddy Wagon. Police advance toward group of demonstrators, outside City Hall, holding signs. One reads: "Vote Communist." Another reads: "Food and Clothing for Unemployed," and one reads:"Fight the Speed UP SYSTEM." One reads: "We demand unemployment insurance."Several women are in the group, which retreats as the police move toward them. One man is lifted by others, above the group, in front of an entrance to the City Court. He stands on rung of an iron fence by the sidewalk. Defiant demonstrators exchange words with police officer. More signs are seen reading: "Down with Fake Employment Agencies" and "Down with Police Brutality." The crowd moves along, some taunting the policemen as they pass. A phalanx of several policemen press against the demonstrators. A woman, with a sign, falls to the ground and another helps her up. Scene shifts to an intersection of Manhattan streets, completely blocked in all directions by cars and demonstrators.

Theodore Cuyler Streibert , Director of the U.S. Information Agency, speaks on the purposes of the Agency (USIS). The Director seated at a table. He states that there is much misunderstanding about the United States, throughout the world, and Communist entities wish to take advantage of this to spread misinformation about the U.S. As the leading world power for peace, he says the U.S. must tell the world the truth about America. This is the mission of the USIA. A map portrays Soviet dominated areas within the so-called "iron curtain,"encompassing 800 million people. Another map illustrates targets of Communist propaganda employed to facilitate North Korea's aggression against South Korea. A graph illustrates propaganda spending by the Soviet Union and Communist China, primarily to spread misinformation about America. Segments of a Soviet propaganda film about the U.S. are shown. It begins with a map of the U.S. and then shows the Statue of Liberty. Camera pans over Manhattan, showing skyscrapers. A narrator disparages American commercialism, materialism and sensationalism. A lion is seen sitting in a convertible car, looking over a young woman's head. Next are scenes of an American beauty contest, and of women performing precision water skiing. Then an airplane is seen crashing on landing and a car is seen burning. View from trolley car moving along Broadway, from Times Square, in Manhattan, New York City, at night. Bandleader Aviator Roger Wolf Kahn, makes daring low altitude pickup of mail in Norfolk, Virginia.
Bandleader-Aviator, Roger Wolfe Kahn, son of multimillionaire banker, Otto Kahn, sits in a 1930 Bellanca CH-400 Skyrocket airplane. He taxis and takes off, flying from New York to Norfolk Virginia, where he makes a daring low altitude test of system for in-flight pickup of mail. He swoops to within a few yards of the pickup point, and snags a mail satchel suspended atop a building only 102 feet high, The mail pouch is delivered by air drop in a field, where it is picked up by a man who places it in a car and drives away. (Note: This actual airplane, Bellanca NC 7084, is being restored by its owner, Dan Cullman of Kent, Washington.)
