United States 92nd Infantry Division consisting of African American soldiers in Latignano, in the Comune of Cascina (Pisa) Italy during World War 2. A U.S. Army Captain of the Division briefs members of a patrol, using a pointer to highlight places on a field map. A Lieutenant, smoking a cigarette, and several other soldiers listen to him. The map is an aerial photograph, detailed down to individual small houses. The Captain unfolds two more photographs showing blow-ups of certain places. After discussing the photographs, the Captain stands up, places a rifle on the ground as a reference, and then places pebbles on the map and uses his pointer to describe locations of units, and other information relevant to the mission, as patrol members listen.
