Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri arrives in Egypt for the Second meeting of Non-Aligned Nations. Lal Bahadur Shastri, who succeeded Nehru, arrives by a plane in Cairo and is greeted by the President of Egypt, Gamal Abdel Nasser. They review the honor guards. Flags of 47 Non-Aligned Nations fly from tall flag poles. Shastri and Nasser enter a building and attend the Second meeting of Non-Aligned Nations.
Passengers board British European Airways Vickers Vicount airliner at Cairo Airport. Among those boarding is Sir Robert Gordon Menzies, Prime Minister of Australia, who just concluded an unsuccessful attempt to persuade President Nasser, of Egypt, to accept international control of the Suez Canal. Among those bidding Menzies, and his party, farewell, is U.S. Ambassador to Egypt, Henry A. Byroade, who is seen conversing quietly with another diplomat, as the airplane prepares to leave. The aircraft engines start, propellers turn, and it taxis away.

Three of the leaders walk down the steps of the palace followed by other officials.

Ancient relics discovered in excavations near the Valley of Kings, Luxor, Egypt. Archaeologists after 3 years of excavations discover Tomb of Mentuemhat (or Montuemhat), Prince of Thebes in El-Assasif, on the west bank of the Nile River, opposite Luxor, Egypt.
