Henry Addison, editor of "Architectural Age" at a desk talks about fine architectural standards of homes in the United States. Different styles of houses in America including cape cones, contemporary and regional architectural styles of houses. Various homes in the suburbs outside of American cities are shown. Sketches of various components of a component home like air conditioner, wall panels and kitchen. Jack Lowe, in Lafayette, Indiana reports about the manufacturing of the components of home. Aerial view of Lafayette Indiana, and of the huge home factory there: National Homes Corporation, Lafayette, Indiana. Views inside the National Homes Corporation pre-fabricated home factory, as workers manufacture wall panels from lumber in a factory. Japanese student prepares to leave Indiana University he packs his belongings and walks out of dorm room. He pauses to carve his initials in a wooden bridge railing where others have done before. In flashback the Japanese student visits the office of the foreign student advisor. Foreign students sit outside the office. The advisor informs the Japanese student about the living quarters, funding, and other administrative information during the interview. The student is greeted by his American roommate in their dormitory room. A chair piled with used clothes. A pair of Chuck Taylor sneakers hang from the ‘Clothes Chair’. The Japanese student expresses disappointment from the sloppy surroundings. He turns his head to see photos of girls and a pin-up poster on display. The American student tidies up the space and helps the Japanese student take off his coat. The two roommates talk. 1951.

Patriotic parade floats during the 1940 Portland Rose Festival
The city of Portland holds the annual Portland Rose Festival with a patriotic flair in June 1940. Two United States flags are hanging from a building. The parade route is marked by banners that read "For You A Rose In Portland Grows." Parade floats made of roses in the 1940 Grand Floral Parade. Portland Rose Festival girls on a “Constitution” float wave at crowds as their float round the corner in front of the New Heathman Hotel (now the Heathman Hotel) at 712 SW Salmon Street. Two men dressed as George Washington and Abraham Lincoln sit on the “Portland Dist. No. 2 Mantle Club” "America First" float, which features an Eagle on its front. Portland Rose Festival “queens” and “princesses” on a “Peacock” themed float wave at crowds. Boy scouts flank the “Peacock” float as passes the Alisky Building and the Harry Semler Dentist and Optical offices. A “Treasure Island Exposition 1940” float.
