A Renault FT tank being demonstrated in France, during World War 1. It drives slowly toward the camera through the deep foundation cellar of a destroyed house and climbs out. It then negotiates a deep ditch and continues moving toward the camera. Two American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) soldiers watch from nearby, as the tank moves past. The tank continues moving directly towards the camera, until it must stop or endanger the cameraman. (Note: The type of Renault FT tank in this sequence was commonly called the FT-17, after the war.)
