Preparations for an execution in France

Preparations for a French execution by guillotine, French bourreau (executioner) Anatole Joseph François Deibler, opens the doors to a carriage house where a portable guillotine is kept in a horse coach (Fourgon). He enters, and is followed by a black limousine. Next, we see him walking slowly along a railroad station platform, next to a train of freight cars. The Fourgon, a venerable closed horse-coach, containing the disassembled guillotine (unseen) sits on a flat rail car. It is black and covered in a black cover. Its four wooden wheels are tied to the corners of the rail car. M.Diebler walks along the train platform, covering his face with a handkerchief. Scene shifts to a person sweeping floor inside an area enclosed by black iron gates. Next, out of chronological sequence, a white horse is seen pulling the executioner's coach along a cobblestone street. Scene shifts back again, to M.Diebler walking about at the train depot. A workman is seen cleaning the Fourgon wheels with a water hose. M. Diebler stands on the platform next to a railroad man in uniform. A building is seen dimly. Back at the rail platform, the Fourgon stands ready. A rear door on it is padlocked by M. Diebler. The coach is next seen being pulled by the horse along a city street. Spectators watch from the sidewalks and some from windows overlooking the street. The coach enters an enclosure. In final scene, the coach is back on the railcar again, covered in black, with its wheels tied to the railcar corners.
