Opening scene shows U.S. and European soldiers waving their hats and celebrating the end of World War 1. The next scene shows some of them watching as a Russian soldier dances on a not-so-tight rope while accompanied by Russian soldiers playing musical instruments. The celebrants are also entertained by another Russian soldier, who demonstrates great skill performing traditional Russian dance while accompanied by the musicians.

World War 1 scene of a French soldier at a concrete and brick protected location, fastens pouches of ammunition to the backs of two dogs. He then leads them, followed by another French soldier. French troops are next seen climbing into a fortified position on a steep hillside or mountain area, where they set up a Vickers machine gun. They examine its field of fire, in preparation for its use.
