U.S. President John F. Kennedy delivers a speech in Washington D.C., United States. The President, while addressing a conference, speaks about the food and drug laws of the country, and references issues with the drug Thalidomide. He informs about the decision to increase the staffing at the food and drug administration (FDA). He also talks about a bill that has been introduced in the Congress to allow rapid removal of drugs from the market that prove hazardous to public health and should potentially be illegal.

U.S. infantry and M4 Sherman tanks move against heavily fortified Japanese positions on Okinawa during World War 2. American soldiers use flame throwers to dislodge Japanese defenders. Two soldiers run as an explosion occurs behind them. U.S. artillery firing from under camouflage netting. Glimpse of soldier walking past a burning building. Okinawan women and children seek refuge behind the U.S.Tenth Army lines. A soldier carries a naked baby to safety. A Navy F4U Corsair plane approaches its carrier to land but loses control and crashes into the carrier's island. Firefighters direct streams of water on it's burning wreckage.

Norwegian civilians flee in trucks, and cars, in advance of German invading troops. German troops march into a Norwegian city. British warships attack and destroy many German ships in the Norwegian harbor of Narvik. The British Tribal class destroyer, HMS Matabele (F 26) is seen. British warships fire heavy guns and numerous German vessels are sunk. A torpedo is launched from side of a British ship. Harbor is littered with sunken vessels. (World War II period).
