Scenes in Lyndhurst, New Jersey after explosion in the Canadian Car and Foundry Company in Kingsland (in Meadowlands of New Jersey) during World War 1. The company built shells for shipment to Russia in World War I. Over 500,000 shells were destroyed in the blast and fire, bombarding the surrounding areas in Kingsland - Lyndhurst. Black smoke rising in the distance, at night, seen from the coast. Close views of industrial buildings and homes on fire. Night views of homes and buildings engulfed in flames. People walk through smoking wreckage afterwards and pick through debris. Devastation covers area flattened by explosion and fire. Twisted railroad tracks covered by debris. View of the D.L.&W (Delaware, Lackawanna & Western) Railroad Shops building at Kingsland (now Lyndhurst), with DL&W train car 605 parked in front. (Suspected cause of incidents: Gillespie - worker error; Kingsland - sabotage as in the 1916 Black Tom explosion.)
German U-Boat sinks Greek ship "India" in 1917 during World War I. U-Boat crew captures and examines sea turtles, in 1915.
Opening scene shows a tramp steamer listing to starboard.during World War 1. She displays "India, Greece" in large letters on her side. Slate indicates that an explosives technician from a U-Boat had climbed aboard and set charges on the Greek Steamer, "India" as she is stopped in the Atlantic during World War 1. The India is carrying a cargo of coal from Cardiff Wales, to Oran. The ship is seen listing. Smoke still rises from her stack. Slate states that the cross on the hull of the sinking "India" is the Greek national emblem. The ship sinks lower and finally slides out of sight, with smoke rising above the water from her exploding boilers. (Note: This German U-boat is the SM U-35, which was operating in the western approaches to the Straits of Gibraltar after leaving the Mediterranean on 11-12 April. It carried a professional cinematographer on board. Two years earlier, on June 12, 1915 , the U-35 also sank the British ship, "Crown of India." ) The next sequence shows an image of the German Daily Express newspaper for Monday May 10, 1915. Dead! it reports in bold print: The world has a duty to conduct a Hunt for turtles. Scene shifts to deck of surfaced German U-boat, showing a dinghy arriving alongside, from which several giant sea turtles are unloaded. Crew members examine the turtles on the deck of the submarine. At least one appears to be dead. Next scene shows lookouts on conning tower of the U-Boat, as they see smoke on the horizon. (The Imperial German Naval war flag is displayed on the conning tower.) The Captain calls for full speed ahead on both engines, and the controls show that being selected. (World War i; World War 1; WWI; WW1)

He talks about the 1986 restoration of democracy in the Philippines, freedom in Europe and the technological advancements taking place. He says that the West is ready to cooperate with the East as and when needed.

Exercise Cirrus, an air exercise for the Allied air forces in Central Europe, that ran concurrently , part of the time, with Exercise Jupiter, a three-day, French-directed war game involving Allied forces in Europe (principally Germany). A band and honor guard are seen prepared for the arrival of senior air commanders at Wiesbaden Air Force Base, West Germany, involved in Exercise Cirrus. Glimpse of C-47 aircraft lined up on the field. A United States Air Force C-54 transport aircraft taxis into the airfield ramp with engines one and four shut down. A North American T-6 Texan training aircraft is seen in the background. The C-54 circles to where a greeting committee of Allied Air Force officers is standing. Closeup of the aircraft door being opened and a rolling stairs being placed at the doorway. Inside of door displays insignia of States Air Forces Europe (USAFE). Exiting the aircraft is Lieutenant General Lauris Norstad, commander in chief, of USAFE, with headquarters at Wiesbaden, Germany. (On April 2, 1951 he assumed additional duty as commanding general of the Allied Air Forces in Central Europe under the Supreme Headquarters of the Allied Powers in Europe.) He is accompanied by General Bjarne Øen, Chief of the Norwegian Air Force. As they descend the stairs, they are greeted by a group of officers including: Major General Truman H Landan, Deputy Commanding Officer, USAFE ( United states Air force in Europe ), Lieutenant General Robert W Harper, Commander, U.S. Air Force Air Training Command, Colonel Rich, chief of Staff 12th Air Force and Colonel Roberts, Commanding Officer Wiesbaden Air Force Base. After mingling and conversing, Generals Norstad and Oen and their escorts exchange salutes with the color guard. A car arrives and Norstad and Oen step into it and and drive away.
