The C-119C makes a normal full flap landing and reverses its engines upon touchdown, which together with wheel braking causes the aircraft to stop rapidly. Testing aircraft for Strategic Air Command Escape and Evasion mission. Drogue chutes fail in landing tests of a U.S. Air Force C-47F at Eglin Air Force Base in Okaloosa County, Florida. In the first scene, a C-47F, trailing a drogue chute, lands on a hard surface runway At the moment of impact as the parachute billows, the shroud line breaks. Parachute collapses and trails behind the aircraft going down the runway. In the second sequence, the C-47F lands on rough terrain, but the drogue chute fails and the aircraft stops using propeller reverse and brakes.
