Adolf Hitler's first speech as Germany's Chancellor, given at the Sports Palace or Sportpalast (Ehemaliger Standort Sportpalast Berlin, Potsdamer Str. 172B, 10783 Berlin, Germany) in Berlin, Germany. A large banner is hung across the hall behind the speaker's stand, reading: "Mecht Deutschland vom Marxismus Frei" (Make Germany free from Marxism). Hitler, in khaki uniform, makes his way to the podium through cadre of uniformed Stormtroopers who act as an honor guard. A crowd applauds and many give the Nazi salute to Hitler as he speaks to them.
Crowds gather in Potsdam, Germany, where most of the newly elected members of the Reichstag (Parliament) hold their first meeting in the Garrison church. Views of the street, crowds, and the Garrison Church. Banner in street says, " We greet the new Germany." President Hindenburg steps from the church, holding his Field Marshal's baton, and greets two clergymen. Sturmabteilung (SA) Stormtroopers struggle to hold crowds back. Members of the Reichstag exit the church, wearing top hats.
Opening scene shows many thousands of Nazi Storm Troopers (Sturmabteilung) gathered in a Nazi rally at Zeppelin Field in Nuremberg. They all render the Nazi salute as the German National Anthem is played over loudspeakers. Complete change of scene shows a military parade including many World War I veterans. They march past Crown Prince Wilhelm, who is seen in close-up, saluting the marchers with a classic military salute. (Several standing with him render Nazi salutes.) The parade ends with the National Anthem and massed flags. Next, German President, Paul von Hindenburg, leads a contingent of officials, walking past assembled military units. He strolls into an area where he exchanges salutes with uniformed men who render the classic (not Nazi) hand salute. Hindenburg salutes some disabled veterans of World War I. Film shifts back again to the Nazi rally at Zeppelin Field, where Adolf Hitler shakes hands with Storm troopers.
