Camera pans over French soldiers in several trench locations along the Marne line during World War 1. Some are also seen digging new trenches next to a road. Several French troops and a farmer stand near two French Schneider tanks, one with a White diamond painted on its side. In far background troops are seen marching single-file. Scene switches to American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) moving single-file along a tree line. The film is destroyed between time code: 01:23 and 2:02, where it picks up again showing American soldiers gathered in a clearing in the woods. Horses and wagons, trucks, and a staff car are also seen. Next scene shows a long line of U.S. troops and trucks clogging a road. German prisoners, including some ambulatory wounded, walk past French canvas-covered wagons, and are seen near French soldiers. French troops with wagons pulled by donkeys, pass German prisoners of war, and enter the town of Longmont. Mounted French soldiers pull a caisson. United States President and Mrs. Woodrow Wilson enter an open horse-drawn carriage in London. Mrs. Wilson has a large bouquet of flowers. Prince Arthur, the Duke of Connaught, enters the carriage to accompany them. Attendants place carriage robes upon the occupants. The carriage proceeds, accompanied by many others, along the narrow streets of London where spectators line the sidewalks and American and British flags cover the buildings and are strung across the road. In various places, British military personnel are seen in formations along the route. At one point, President Wilson, accompanied by senior British officers, reviews a cadre of British troops drawn up in formation. Later, the carriage of the President and First Lady arrives at the Guildhall (71 Basinghall St, London EC2V 7HH, United Kingdom), where they step down from the carriage. Visit of Lieutenant General Jan Christiaan Smuts and his entourage at the Hendon airfield on the outskirts of London England, during World War 1, where dignitaries and spectators are gathered to attend the unveiling and christening of a De Havilland DH9 aircraft, named "South Africa." (Note: The plane also resembles a Royal Aircraft Factory R.E.8. Position of pilot cockpit does not match a DH9 making identity uncertain). The aircraft was subscribed for by members of the London Chamber of Commerce, and presented as a gift to South Africa through the Imperial Air Fleet Committee. Lifelong South African Lt. General Smuts with other dignitaries viewing the aircraft, including Lord Desborough who was President of the London Chamber of Commerce and the Imperial Air Fleet Committee. Mrs William Schreiner, the Marchioness of Winchester, stands with flowers in her hand and christens the aircraft. General Smuts talks to the dignitaries as they present the aircraft to honor and thank South Africa for its contribution to the war effort. Pilot Captain B.C. Hucks, dressed in heavy flight suit climbs aboard the airplane, which displays the name "South Africa," on its nose. The aircraft takes off and flies overhead.
