U.S. troops of the 506th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division in Cambodia, during the Vietnam War. Several soldiers are seen in wooded area. One talks over a PR-25 radio from a tree line at the edge of large open field. Another soldier slings an M-60 machine gun over his shoulder. Then, carrying their gear, the soldiers walk across the open field toward an area where a camp is being set up. In the distance, a UH-1 Huey helicopter sits with engine running and rotor blades turnng. The soldiers enter the tree line where others are assembling with their gear and supplies, next to the open field. The soldier carrying the M-60 machine gun, waves to the camera. Closeup of some soldiers who have pitched a couple of tents and are opening boxes of supplies. A change of scene shows several troops escorting a captured North Vietnamese army (NVA) soldier, whose hands are tied behind him, to a UH-1 helicopter with engine running. The Huey is next seen taking off with the prisoner aboard. Closeup of black NVA cap, left behind,in the mud. (Note: Within a few days, these troops distinguished themselves in combat with North Vietnamese Army troops. One, in particular, Leslie H. Sabo, Jr. Specialist Fourth Class, of Company B, 3d Battalion, heroically sacrificed his life, in combat on May 10, 1970, and was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.)

Rough dirt paths and landing areas have been carved out of the earth and scrub brush landscape. Half a dozen UH-1s are parked on the site, as well as trucks and other vehicles. A huge section of the site is barren, except for a white wind sock. View from the ground of a UH-1 coming in to land. It sets down on a ramp of marsden matting, aka pierced steel planking (PSP), as a CH-47 chopper takes off in the background. Camera is photographing from another UH-1 that takes off, still focusing on the one that just arrived. A C-130 aircraft is on the runway in the background. The departing camera-helicopter shows troops and equipment on the bare earth below. Scene shifts to aerial views of sky, clouds, and mountainous terrain. Shifting to view of ground, another advance base is seen below. Another UH-1 is seen in the sky.The camera-helicopter passes over a dirt field where a low flying formation of helicopters is raising huge dust clouds. In the midst of this site there is a long hard surface (PSP) runway, that the camera-helicopter flies along, at altitude.Troops and equipment plus more helicopters are in the dirt areas beside the hard runway.

Groups of U.S. soldiers, from 101st Airborne and 4th Infantry Divisions, walk toward helicopters of the 1st Aviation Brigade, at Camp Holloway, Pleiku, as they prepare to depart for an incursion into Cambodia, during the Vietnam war. Several arriving UH-1 Huey helicopters fly low past parked ones. Six are seen hovering in formation just a few feet over the field and then moving forward toward the runway. Troops walking toward their helicopters include one contingent carrying a large American flag. Some soldiers assemble in groups, placing their gear on the ground. They are dispatched to helicopters in orderly groups. The contingent with the flag has it furled as they climb aboard a UH-1.
