The UN General Assembly meeting goes on in New York City near time frame of Arab-Israeli Six Day War in June 1967. The Assembly rejects Russia's resolution to brand Israel the aggressor in the Middle East, while voiding the annexation of Jerusalem. A board shows names of voting countries. Three men on stage. Arab forces and Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) exchange fire across the Suez Canal, breaking temporary truce. Soldiers on tanks. A soldier looks through binoculars. Soldiers in truck. Truck drives off.
United States Marine Corps Pilots of VMF (AW) 232 (Red Devils), conversing at an office in a trailer, at Da Nang Airbase, South Vietnam. Major B A Martin in flight suit sits at a desk. He briefs another pilot, Captain Herb Jellander. Major Martin writes on a pad. Captain Jellander smiles and converses with Major. Major Martin mark positions on blackboard, explains and then rubs it off. He returns to his desk. ( Note: In July, 1967, Major Bruce A. Martin's F-8E was hit by enemy fire and he was forced to eject. He parachuted safely and was picked up.) (Vietnam War period).
United States Marine Corps pilot of Squadron VMF (AW) 232 (Red Devils), wearing flight suit and a red helmet, sits in the cockpit of an F-8E Crusader aircraft in Da Nang Vietnam. The name "Wheatley" is stenciled below the cockpit. The pilot raises two fingers to indicate start engine. Ground crewman wearing noise suppressor headset acknowledges with two fingers.Ground crewman collects gear pins. Another ground crewman pulls chocks, hangs them on a rocket tube, and signals for the pilot to taxi. He pulls the chocks off the rocket tube as the aircraft taxis past, with its wings folded. The pilot, Major Cronkrite, unfolds wings and taxis to join the other F-8E, piloted by Wheatley, on the active runway. (Note: On June 20, 1967 Major Charles Ligon Cronkrite experienced mechanical problems during a mission and ejected over water. He did not survive.) (Vietnam War period).
