The U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial original statue during its unveiling ceremony at the Marine Corps base in Quantico, Virginia on November 10, 1951 (This is after the statue had been moved from its original Constitution Avenue location in Washington DC in 1947, and subsequently renovated under sculptor de Weldon's supervision while it was in Quantico.). A sign on the memorial reads "Uncommon valor was a common virtue, 1945." Next scenes show sculptor Felix de Weldon as he works to build the larger Marine Corps War Memorial in Arlington, Virginia, which was dedicated in November 1954. An injured Guatemalan soldier is evacuated by air from a rural airport in Guatemala
Camera focuses on a 1954 Chevrolet ambulance as it approaches, driving across an airfield in Guatemala. It pulls up next to a Guatemalan Air Force DC-3 aircraft, where it is met by several Guatemalan soldiers. One of them converses with the pilot, who is wearing a flight suit. The camera shifts focus, momentarily, to a North American T-6 aircraft taxiing onto the runway for takeoff. Then it focuses, again, on the soldiers , ambulance, and parked DC-3 aircraft. As the pilot approaches the ambulance, several soldiers remove a patient on a litter and carry it to the door of the aircraft, where they place it on the ground and assist the patient to climb a few steps up and into the aircraft cabin. He holds up his right leg, which is bandaged, as he is helped by a crew member. Scene shifts to view from the aircraft cockpit as it departs from the airfield and proceeds over rugged hilly countryside. Aerial view of buildings in a town on the water. More views of fairly barren land below. View is interrupted and then resumes with more aerial views from the aircraft cockpit. Pilots are seen in the cockpit. The remainder of the film shows aerial views of Guatemala City (probably the destination of this air evacuation mission).

Italian Army Alpini recovering bodies of victims from United States Air Force aircraft C-47 which crashed in French Italian Alps, on October 24, 1954, while on a flight from Rome, Italy, to Lyon, France. The crash site is at 8,500 feet on Mount Carbonè, in Northern Maritime Alps, near Limone Piemonte, Cuneo, Italy. Italian Alpini (mountain troops) lead mules laden with bodies of crash victims, in canvas bags, down a mountain path. They are seen placing one such canvas bag into a coffin. A U.S. and an Italian officer then drape it with an American flag and Alpini pallbearers carry it to a waiting vehicle and gently place it on board. An Italian Alpini honor guard presents arms and its commander salutes.
