Joseph Stalin, the Soviet Premier presides over a session of the legislature of the Soviet Union in Moscow. Elected representatives of the people attend the session. Stalin while speaking at an election meeting asks the elected representatives to follow the ideals set by Lenin. He expresses firm faith in Lenin's philosophy.
Clip opens with scenes from 1940s before moving to historical footage from 1917. A copy of Pravda, a Bolshevik Worker's newspaper is seen. People demonstrate on the streets of Moscow against the Czar during Russian Revolution. People tearing down symbols of White Russian rule. Crowds demonstrating in streets as newspapers with news are thrown to the people in the crowds. Masses of Russian people and troops during demonstrations. Lenin arrives at a railway station. Portraits of Lenin and Stalin during Russian Revolution are seen. Views of Lenin viewing training and drills of early Soviet Russian army forces. Troops, cavalry and military band at a march past, as Lenin looks on.
A palace in Moscow with Stalin's sculpture is seen. Saint Basil Cathedral at Red Square. People gather in large numbers outside the cathedral. A newsstand shop where Stalin's poster is seen. Among publicatins seen in several languages are copies of a paper called New Times A procession moves on the streets. Officials including Molotov pose for a photograph. People from different parts of the country are seen. A soldier teaches fighting tactics to tribesmen. (World War II period).
Film begins showing Soviet industrial complex with many smoke stacks emitting dark fumes. A banner is raised in front of a statue of Joseph Stalin. Soviet workers turn wheel and use wrench to install a large shaft into a machine in a factory. A large number of Soviet people descend stairs from an electric distribution network at a hydroelectric dam. Soviet head of state Mikhail Kalinin is among the persons seen in the group. Spectators stand on a platform above the dam where a large sign is displayed. View of the dam with gates open and water pouring through to the lower level of the river. Scene shifts to military parade on Red Square in Moscow. during World War 2. A formation of trucks carrying anti-aircraft guns drive along the street. Soviet T-34 tanks are also in the parade. Joseph Stalin waves from a balcony on the Kremlin as the parade passes. Soviet workers also join the parade, carrying banners and marching in a dozen parallel columns along Red Square. They exit in columns around both sides of Saint Basil's Cathedral. Soviet heavy artillery batteries fire at night creating great flashes of light. A shell strike destroys a building. Soviet troops fighting in close quarters among debris in a Russian city. Dead German soldiers lying in debris on a city street. Some are surrounded by weapons and belts of ammunition. A Soviet soldier removes a swastika from the top of a steel bridge. Soviet citizens walk about the ruins of a city during a lull in combat. A child emerges from an underground bunker. Russian sailors walk together along a street. Soviet people gather at an outdoor market, where they purchase foods.
Workers stand outside the French National Railway Company in France.It is snowing. They sign petitions. French policeman stands guard . In the Soviet Union, Sir Bernard Montgomery is accompanied by Russian officers while stopping to view a monumental cannon in Moscow.
Dignitaries including Stalin, Winston Churchill, Charles Bohlen, Molotov, George Marshall,and General Mark Clark, are greeted as they arrive at an auditorium to watch a Ballet performance in Moscow, Soviet Union. Stalin is seen speaking with some dignitaries. We see part of the Trepak segment of Swan Lake.
