Admiral John Hyland and other U.S. Navy officers get down from the helicopter. Officers walk towards the destroyed portions of the ship. They stand beside a gaping hole in the deck, caused by explosion of a bomb during the fire. Sailors working at the gaping hole on the bulkhead of the deck. One is holding a long rope that extends down into the hole. Admiral Hyland stands with other officers and discusses. Red shirts still holding a fire hose. Debris of many burnt and mangled aircraft scattered over the deck and men among the wreckage. A torn leather shoe among the wreckage.

Electromagnetic Hazards Group conducts ball lightning tests under Project Tesla, inside a hangar at Wendover Air Force Base in Utah. An interviewer gets information from the scientists. A team member talks about modern aircraft, new material and avionics system susceptible to lightning. He states that the composite materials used in new aircraft are stronger and don't conduct electricity like conventional metals. The team's research work involves protective measures and verification of the same. He discusses the effect of lightning on aircraft electronics, and the use of Wendover as the research facility due to its reproduction of long arcs. The aim is to study the effects of atmospheric electricity on new materials and electronics systems in modern aircraft. Robert Golka talks about a new company to study and create ball lightning, and apply it to nuclear fusion research.

During the period from 1973 to 1982 the U.S. Air Force Electromagnetic Hazards Group, led by Robert K. Golka, conducted long arc simulated lightning attachment tests under Project Tesla. This film shows electrical "lightning" discharges being created with Tesla coils inside a hangar at Wendover Air Force Base in Utah. (Several discharges display what appear to be "ball lightning.")

The marathon swim around Manhattan in New York, United States. Swimmers grease their body to keep from getting chilled in the long race in cold water. The contestants dive into the water. A boat in the water. The contestants are fed from the boat which sails beside them. Sam Shields representing Miami, Florida, wins in record time of 8 hours 35 minutes and poses. ( Note: Sam Shields, reportedly a native of Louisville, KY, was a top competitive swimmer in his college days with the University of Miami.)

Night time aerial views of City of Farmingdale in New York lit up and then going dark all at once as power is cut during blackout. Batteries of the 62nd anti aircraft post artillery swing into action operating searchlights directed at incoming bombers. The bombers drop flares during the test, as ground crews practice locating the "enemy" aircraft in search light beams.B-10, the all metal monoplane bomber in flight during night. Flares descending. In the mock test, the bombers prevail and the defenses fail to protect all of the aircraft factories. End of clip shows elevated night time views of New York City and Times Square area as seen from the air and from high up tall skyscraper buildings of Manhattan. Bright lights and lit signs of city seen from above as narrator suggests the threat against New York City from aerial bombardment by a foreign force (early in World War 2).
