Fatal airplane crash mars 20th anniversary air show at Langley Field, Virginia.

People gather to watch air show commemorating 20th anniversary of Langley field, Virginia. Long line of P-12s parked with engines running on the air base ready for flight. Crew members rush towards the planes. Y1B-17 bombers, from 2nd Bombardment Group, move slowly along taxi strip toward the runway. One of the B-17B takes off. Nine B-17Bs in flight in echelon formation. PT-6 lays a smoke screen. P3-2As and PB-2As, of the 8th Pursuit Group, fly low over the field. Suddenly, one PB-2A dives and crashes into the ground, and burns. Smoke arises from the crashed plane. (Major Alfred J. Waller is killed in the crash and his observer, Sergeant John Johnston is injured.)

U.S. Navy and Coast Guard units parade in New York City for Victory Loan Drive.

U.S. Navy contingents comprise most marchers in a Victory Loan parade in New York City. Crowds on the sidewalks watch a U.S. Coastguard color guard with shouldered rifles march past carrying the American flag and Coast Guard Anchorage flag. Behind them a temporary arch with Red Cross symbols is stretched across the avenue. An advertisement for Sivertown cord tires is stretched across, above the arch. The Coast Guard contingent marks time briefly and then continues. From the opposite side of the avenue, a U.S. Navy band is seen marching to cadence of a snare drum only. They are followed by Women Yeomen (F) of the U.S. Naval Reserve. Next is seen a large contingent of U.S. Navy men, carrying shouldered rifles. A large sign at the sidewalk reads: "They are finishing their job, Are you? Invest in Victory." An open busload of sailors and some soldiers passes, followed by an open truck filled with farmers in overalls, carrying a sign. Two marines ride on opposite running boards of the truck. A float is seen. Scene shifts to views from behind the parade. Victory Bond posters are fastened to lamp posts. Flags and long banners are displayed. A huge sign across a building reads: "New York will see it through." View to oncoming parade, again, shows U.S. Navy Nurses marching, followed by their own bugle corps (not playing). A Navy band follows (not playing) and then some more women Yeomen (F). U.S. Marines in campaign hats, carrying shouldered rifles, come next. U.S. Naval Fleet Review in New York City right after the end of World War II.

A motor launch approaches a gangplank at the port side of the battleship USS Pennsylvania (BB-38) during a Fleet Review on Christmas Day, 1918, in New York harbor. Her crew is formed up on her deck and she is returning her triple battery guns to their normal position, after having them turned and raised in salute. Scene shifts to the USS Texas (BB-35) as she drops her signal flags, while moving forward. Other warships can be seen behind her. Scene shifts again, to bow view of a stationary heavy cruiser belching heavy black smoke from her stack. Port-side view of a sleek two-stack cruiser. Sailors crowd the deck of a warship. A 4-stack destroyer is seen to her starboard. Sailors launch some kind of a floating device from a davit. Officers look over the ship's side at the device in the water. Officers being saluted and piped off the ship. Long pennants streaming from ship's tower. A fairly large rapidly moving boat filled with sailors.
