A railroad marshalling yard in France during World War 1. Several American soldiers stand near tracks as a French locomotive pulls a train past them. With all tracks now clear except for one long train of box cars, American soldiers walk beside the train carrying their full field packs and 1903 Springfield rifles as they board the box cars. Closeup of some soldiers boarding. They wear Garrison caps and carry their steel helmets with their packs. Officers monitor the boarding activity. Next, a steam locomotive is seen pulling the long train of loaded box cars. Soldiers sit with their feet dangling from open box car doors. Closeups of locomotives pulling a train of closed freight cars and of another pulling various cargoes, including wooden poles and building materials.
U.S. President Woodrow Wilson watches Armistice parade from side gate to the White house grounds
Armistice parade in Washington,DC, marking end of World War1. President Woodrow Wilson, and several officials, stand near guard shack at gateway to West Wing of the White House, where they watch a parade celebrating the armistice. An army officer on horseback rides past, saluting, followed by several others saluting. Behind them comes a marching military brass band. They are followed by another military band on horseback, leading a small contingent of mounted soldiers and two trucks pulling artillery caissons and field pieces. In succession, the following are seen: an army band; a navy band; a color guard; a contingent of sailors marching with presented arms,in salute; Yeoman (F) women in the U.S. Navy Reserve; and a team of horses pulling a float full of young women in white displaying flags of the World War 1 Allied nations. Marching beside the float are a representative from each of those nations, in uniform, carrying their respective national colors. The last group seen parading are women of the Knights of Columbus, dressed in flowing long-sleeved dresses, and caps. Many of them wear their hair long. American World War I cemeteries in France, as seen in 1919
Panning View from a nearby hill, overlooking an American World War I cemetery, somewhere in France, as seen in 1919. It is layed out in the form of a long rectangle, with white roads and paths enclosing and crisscrossing the entire area, so that each individual row of graves is bounded by a white path. Its major roads intersect at a circle with flagpole at the center. The cemetery is in a level field surrounded by pastureland, except for the overlooking hill from which it is photographed. Scene shifts to Argonne American cemetery in France. Aerial views of graves. Foliage at the hill side. Plantings form letters of cemetery name i.e."Argonne Cemetery," at the edge of the field of crosses. The American flag flies at the cemetery. Individual Graves are seen marked with numbered white crosses bearing names of fallen American soldiers of World War 1. Several markers bear the cross of David, at graves of Jewish American soldiers. Closeups of some crosses near end of sequence. One is numbered 201, and reads: "George C. Long, Pvt. CO M. 327 Inf.

Senator J.William Fulbright at a press conference after the Secretary of State met with the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations to brief them on status of Nuclear Test Ban Treaty negotiations. Senator William Fulbright is asked his personal views about the treaty. Senator replies that what ever the differences, they must be resolved. He says that he is encouraged about the treaty and Russians are also encouraged about the progress. Journalist asks how long it would take Senate approve it. Fulbright says it would be done in this year and if every thing is agreeable it won't take long to accept it.

Film notes 35th anniversary of Wright Brothers' first flight and reviews history of transportation and advances in transportation brought about by railroad and aircraft. An animated map of the United states before the advent of mechanized transport methods. It illustrates the difficult and long overland journey to travel from the East Coast to the West Coast. Travel by horse and wagon over the Santa Fe Trail in 1849 is recreated in a brief film clip. Next, a locomotive is shown pulling a passenger train at high speed along a railroad at the base of a mountain. Animated map charts fairly direct path from Coast to Coast, taking only 4 days by railroad. Next a nearly straight course is traced across the map illustrating the path of an airplane taking only seven and a half hours for the journey. Change of scene shows aerial view of Howard Hughes' Lockheed 14 Super Electra Special, Model 14-N2 ( NX18973), christened "New York World's Fair 1939," in flight over New York harbor with the skyline of Manhattan, New York City in the background. Camera follows the plane as it passes over lower Manhattan. The Empire State building is seen prominently with other skyscrapers below the aircraft. This was filmed, on July 14, 1938, as Hughes and his crew were returning from Minneapolis, Minnesota, to Floyd Bennett Field, on Long Island, at the conclusion of their around-the-world flight (circling the Northern Hemisphere) from July 10 - July 14, 1938.
