Pairs of American and British workers on exchange visits meet workers at American cities across the country

They decide that each British worker would visit the hometown of an American counterpart. One pair leaves to visit Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The pick up their luggage. Another pair are going to Detroit, Michigan. They pick up their luggage. The third pair is going to St. Louis, Illinois. They pick up their luggage. The final pair are going to Los Angeles, California. They pick up the last remaining pieces of luggage. One pair of workers is seen entering the Chrysler plant in Detroit. The American was welcomed home to America from his trip to England. View inside the plant of an African American woman working beside an older man, where they were making tank and marine engines. The visitors examine the gang drill presses containing multiple drills operated by a single operator. They stop to say hello to the American's daughter who also works at the plant, checking to assure parts met tolerances. It was noted that she was paid the same as any man doing the job. The pair of visitors are met at the American's home by some company union workers. They sit together on the step outside the house and get acquainted. An infant inside the house looks out the window at them. Scene shifts to Los Angeles where another English-American visiting pair is seated outdoors and the wife of the American brings out some bottles of beer for them to all share. Change of scene shows the pair visiting the offices of the Screen Actors Guild in Hollywood, where they meet celebrities Edward Arnold, George Murphy, Dick Powell, Alan Hale, Jane Wyman, Helen Hayes and Lena Horne. Edward Arnold, President of the Guild's Board, speaks with the pair, alone explaining how every actor in Hollywood belongs to the Guild which is affiliated with the America Federation of Labor (AFL). After the battle of Saipan, during World War 2, P-47s of the 318th fighter Group 19th Fighter Squadron are seen flying in from the Carrier, USS Natoma Bay and those of the 73rd Fighter Squadron, flying in from the USS Manila Bay. Opening scene shows a battlefield wooden cross marking the grave of Private Robert. Woods. His photograph is shown.The narrator is an American Pastor of a predominantly African American congregation speaking from the pulpit about men who served America during World War 2. He cites U.S. Army bomber pilot, Colin Kelly, whose photograph is also seen. The pastor also mentions Meyer Levine, Kelly's bombardier (unseen) and an African American sailor, named Dory Miller, who shot down Japanese aircraft while defending the battleship West Virginia during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. Miller is seen shaking hands with officers on the deck of a Navy ship. Camera focuses on a banner in the church displaying stars for the members of the congregation in the Armed Forces. He leads in a prayer of thanks for "this land which our fathers have helped to build." Camera pans over the congregation. The choir and congregation join in singing "Onward Christian Soldiers." Next, a large formation of African American soldiers marches in a parade. They wear uniforms including M1917 steel helmets, and carry rifles and field packs. Scene updates to African American soldiers marching wearing World War 2 M1 steel helmets. Scene shifts to African American Army Colonel and another officer reviewing marching troops on a snowy field. Next, African American women in the WAC (Women's Army Corps) are seen marching. African American troops are seen, again, parading in World War 1 steel helmets, and then others are seen parading in garrison caps. More views of these various groups parading with a glimpse of mounted cavalry inserted, as well. As the film ends, the background music is the singing of "Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho."
