Pilot of USAAF 334th Squadron, 4th Fighter Group, Captain Shelton W "Shell" Monroe, of Waycross, GA. in the cockpit of his P-51, during World War 2. He starts the airplane, but shuts down and gets out to talk with Intelligence Officer, Captain Ben Q. Ezzell, who is dressed in Class A uniform, and carrying some sort of document. They talk and Ezzell gives Monroe a cigarette to smoke. Shelton W. Monroe was later killed in Korea after his plane was shot down on April 17, 1951.

8th Air Force fighter pilot shoots down German Bf 109 aircraft, which burns and crashes.

Lieutenant Willruth of 335 Squadron, 4th Fighter Group,8th Air Force, engages German Messerschmitt Bf-109 aircraft flying low over mountainous area in Germany. Seen via gun camera footage, from his North American P-51 Mustang airplane, gunfire hits the Bf-109 which starts smoking. At TC:00:18, the German pilot bails out. The aircraft goes out of control, catches fire and crashes. The gun camera continues to record, showing another encounter with a German fighter plane. As it is struck by gunfire, it rolls over and descends trailing white smoke. An explosive flash occurs and the German airplane free falls straight down into forest below, leaving a wide trail of white smoke. (World War II period).

Fourth Liberty Loan parade and dedication of the Altar of Liberty in Madison Square, New York City.

Flags of the 22 Allied Nations fly on poles at Madison Square. Vice President Thomas Marshall stands on sidewalk by the Altar of Liberty with several officials and an Army chaplain in uniform. A contingent of Belgian Army officers marches followed by U.S. Military officers and diplomats and officials in automobiles. The Belgian officers greet civilian officials. Civilian officials gather and converse. Officials assembled on balcony of the Altar of Liberty. New York Governor, Charles S. Whitman is in center, to right of the Army chaplain. Governor Whitman introduces the Vice President, who looks at his watch and gives his address. The next speaker introduced is Emile De Cartier, Belgian Minister to the U.S. whose country is the first to be honored at the shrine.
