Opening scene shows tents housing more than 1500 Japanese prisoners of war at Kadena, Okinawa during World War 2. The area is surrounded by fencing and, as camera pans, it shows an American soldier overlooking the prison camp as he holds a Browning M1919A6 light machine gun. Another view of the prison compound with warning sign against admittance and another sign reading: "PW inclosure." As narrator refers to "mopping up operations" a jeep carrying more Japanese POWs drives past the signs. Ambulatory Japanese POW entering the prison compound past armed military policeman. View from inside the compound as Japanese POWs enter. A POW being frisked by a U.S. soldier. Closeups of some Japanese prisoners standing behind barbed wire enclosure. A solitary woman walks slowly along a deserted street. A rocket weapon is fired from a building window causing a cloud of white smoke to billow out over the street. Fires burn in buildings, as soviet soldiers run past them. A woman Soviet soldier tends to the wound of a male comrade as others stand nearby. (At TC:00:32, a Soviet soldier, with his head bandaged, fires a captured German Panzerfaust.) More views of burning buildings. Four Soviet soldiers carry a wounded comrade on a litter. A Soviet soldier enters a burning shop. Another Soviet soldier carrying a PPD SMD submachine gun, pulls a German Soldier from a hole in the sidewalk. U.S. 7th Army units participate in NATO exercise in Germany
As part of the NATO forces, U.S. 7th Army tanks, troops, and artillery participate in "Exercise Cordon Bleu" with Central Army Group and 4th Tactical Air Force. One object of the exercise, among others, was to improve coordination of NATO forces of various types and nationalities. American M24 tanks move past a monitoring team parked at side of the road during the exercises in Germany. Another scene shows soldiers on motorcycles moving along a road and heavy armor following. A mortar team in the field. Infantry in defensive positions. A tank is guided into a firing position. Gunner on top of tank. Tank turret rotates. The name: "Austerlitz" painted on the turret. Tank commander looks through binoculars. Several NATO aircraft fly overhead and swoop low over water area. A tank rolls over a bridge, past Marshal Alphonse juin of France, Commander-in-Chief Allied Forces Central Europe, who is standing at side of road. Two F-80 jet fighters swoop low overhead. Marshal Juin is joined by two French officers, one a tank commander in helmet and goggles.
