Equipment is unloaded by men. U.S. troops advance toward Cebu city and encounter road blocks. They sweep for land mines on their way to city. A Bomb is taken out of a hole. Dead body of American soldier killed by land mine. 4.2 inch mortars are brought forward by the 80th Chemical Mortar Battalion (CMB) on beach. Tanks and troops advance towards a village where first organized enemy resistance is encountered. Troops take cover behind trees and fire rifles at Japanese snipers hiding in houses. Trooper throws grenade in house and moves back. Explosion in house. House is set on fire. Wounded Japanese comes out of house and falls down. Troops advance further. Troops greeted by civilians. Native carriages, tanks and troops advance in village. Japanese prisoners under guard. Troops move through rubble and wreckage of building in village. International Newsreel uses printed press as source of information and entertainment in connection with telegraph news agency. Interiors of office in telegraph news agency with journalists and editors in press room or news room. A man using a vintage telephone, seated in front a typewriter, telephones an event from telegraph operators' room to newsreel editor. Newsreel editor and cameraman seen in newsreel news office as they receive word by phone and get ready to leave for location where event took place. They board a DH-4 biplane aircraft, carrying tripod and moving image camera (in protective box) to film the event.
Events during World War I. Elaborate civilian funeral procession. A white cart pulled by a draped horse, leads the procession, followed by a Crucifer and mourners, followed, in turn, by an elaborate carriage, containing a coffin, pulled by a team of 4 draped and plumed horses. A host of other persons follows the casket.
A wreath laying ceremony commemorating fallen soldiers from World War I in Berlin, Germany. German officials and dignitaries proceed along Unter den Linden, in Berlin, followed by military parade. Representatives and flags of other countries are seen, including United States, Great Britain, France, and the Nazi flag of Germany. Troops lined up in front of the Neue Wache (Unter den Linden 4, 10117 Berlin, Germany) war memorial building that commemorates those who died in World War I. Several officials lay a wreath on the World War I memorial, followed by a line of international representatives carrying their respective national flag. A band plays.
A Turkish marching band leads a parade of Turkish soldiers marching to honor visiting members of the American Military Mission to Turkey and Armenia (unseen) in 1919. The area is arid and dusty. Behind the band, a contingent of infantry is led by an officer on horseback. Behind them are mounted officers leading mounted cavalry. Sequence shifts to sweeping view of hilly and mountainous terrain. (Local elevation at the town of Sivas, in the valley, is over 4 thousand feet.)
