A woman temperance supporter who gives the impression of being in a trance (perhaps "channeling" a spirit?), says she is George Nye, the Quaker Evangelist of Madison, Wisconsin. She speaks for the Prohibition Party (sometimes called the Dry's or Dries) and condemns both Republican and Democratic parties for their alcohol tolerance. William McAdoo addresses the convention and declares Franklin D Roosevelt the Democratic candidate for President of the United States.

He says: "Europe, in general, has ceased to be the center of the world. It is foolish to hope that Europe, as it is, will again occupy that position. The present terrific crisis, in spite of its devastating effects on the United States, will change the relation of forces still farther, not in favor of Europe, but in favor of the United States and the colonial countries."
