Chinese airmen board a U.S. troop carrier aircraft at Austin, Texas

United States and Chinese airmen at Bergstrom Field, Austin, Texas July 1946. The Neo-Classical building is the Texas State Capital at Austin, Texas and Austin Texas is noted on the graduate’s diploma “Bergstrom Field, Austin, Texas”. At this time the 349th Troop Carrier Group was based at Bergstrom and assigned to the Third Air Force, Tactical Air Command as noted on the diploma. Also “Air Force Combat Units of World War II” Edited by Maurer Maurer states this unit trained Chinese crews to operate C-46 aircraft. Film is very interesting in that it visually shows the transition from “Army brown to Air Force Blue” for the C-46s still carry the I TROOP CARRIER COMMAND insigne on the nose, with was disbanded on 4 Nov 1945 but they have the new AAF wide "Buzz Numbers" for all aircraft operating solely within the continental USA, by T.O. 07-1-1 of November 1945 and the graduate’s diploma is notating the new post-war air force type command reorganization of March 1946.

The two put on lipstick makeup and perfume before leaving. They go down steps to dance hall or speakeasy where they dance the Charleston and cavort with others there. Couples are seen kissing off to the side, and some in the group carry flasks and drink illegal liquor. Women seen throwing dice in a game (woman on right at 1:08 is possibly Texas Guinan). Musicians play various persons in the group play the piano, saxophone, and ukulele. Top down view on phonograph record player as a vinyl record spins on the turntable.

On May 2, 1923, scenes of the first successful non stop flight across USA. Men open accordian doors to large hangar, revealing a specially modified Fokker T-2 airplane. Lieutenant Kelly and Lieutenant Macready, on the field, pose with Orville Wright. United States Army Air Service Fokker T-2 plane is pushed out of hangar by men. Painted on side of the plane is: 'Army Air Service Non Stop Coast to Coast'. Pilot gets ready as the airplane is fueled. Pilots and other Army officers on airfield. Animated map of the United States map illustrates course the flyers will take. Plane taxis on airfield. The Plane in flight and over Rockwell field, San Diego, California, and making a landing. Spectators on field greet the pilots as they climb down from the airplane.
