One of 12 rockets named "Bérénice" being launched from a French island Île du Levant (Le Levant) on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. Distant views of people sunbathing, some are topless or in the nude, on rock outcroppings near the beach. Engineers and scientists work in a French national study and research center for aeronautics on the other side of the island (O.N.E.R.A. (Office National d'Etudes et de Recherches Aérospatiales). The General meets the villagers. A French sailor kisses a woman. General De Gaulle speaks from a platform,under a Free French Cross of Lorraine flag, and flanked by British and American flags. A huge crowd gathered to listen to the General. Several women and children look on. General Henri Giraud, stands nearby. The audience sings La Marseillaise.
