The U.S. Army Air Corps (USAAC) Alaska Flight of 1934 departing Fairbanks Alaska on flight back to Washington, DC. Their YB-10 aircraft are seen in a line on the airfield. Spectators are at the edge of the field to see them off. Next, the aircraft are seen taxiing out for takeoff, with their Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Henry Arnold, piloting the lead aircraft, the "City of Fairbanks." Other aircraft follow in succession. Colonel Arnold's airplane takes off and proceeds in a shallow climb. Slate tells first leg is 640 miles to Juneau in 3 hours and 55 minutes. Map shows North America with outbound course to Alaska from Washington, DC, traversing the Great Lakes, Edmonton, Prince George, and White Horse, to Fairbanks. United States President Harry S. Truman, and his party, make unplanned stop at RAF Station Harrowbeer during return from the last 4-Power meeting of World War 2, held at Berlin in July, 1945. (Their planned destination, RAF Station St Mawgan, was fogged in. So the President instructed his pilot, Lieutenant Colonel Henry T. Myers, to land at Harrowbeer, when they saw it was clear.) Truman descends steps from the Presidential Airplane (Douglas VC-54C named the "Sacred Cow," used by Presidents Roosevelt, and Truman). Two other C-54 aircraft have also arrived (unseen). One carried Secretary of State, James F. Byrnes, who poses with the President and three members of the British WAAF (Women's Auxiliary Air Force) identified as: Section Officer Eira Buckland Jones, Corporal Clarice Turner, and Leading Aircraft Woman Audley Bartlett. Scene shifts to 20th Century, where Marines are seen marching in a parade in an American city. Scene shifts again, to a ship at a dock with U.S. Marines disembarking.
