Shepard addresses the dignitaries present on the White House grounds, and the assembled clap when he finishes speaking. First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy can be seen saying and then repeating to the President, "Pin the medal on him" (perhaps the President had forgotten but was reminded by Mrs. Kennedy).
