Team of dark horses pull caisson bearing the coffin of the Unknown Soldier. It is covered with bunting and dark wreath. General of the Armies, John J. Pershing leads the Military officers who accompany the coffin. Following them is seen a large group of civilian officials, all in top hats.

Ferry moving across the river. Different scene shows ferry arriving at shore carrying a car, which drives off, and a horse drawn wagon, preparing to leave.
Men, with horse drawn leveling tools, prepare ground for road construction. Workers with wheelbarrows put concrete into chute of road building machine. Road building machine constructs concrete road along side a railroad track. Road machine moves on chained wheels. Workers with the help of machines build road. Views of automobiles moving along new concrete roads, wide enough to allow cars to pass.
Sequence showing a 1922 Ford Model T automobile being driven successfully in difficult terrain. The car approaches and crosses a slightly elevated railroad crossing at high speed. It is then seen negotiating various barriers and impediments, including driving down steep sandy embankments over a severely rutted dirt road. At the end of the arduous course, the car's license plate is seen bent and tilted, but no damage is evident to the car itself.
