They attend a garden party where nearly five thousand people are gathered to pay respects to them. Queen Elizabeth wears a hat that features ostrich feathers; other women present wear grand hats and carry parasols, influenced by the Queen's fashions.
A newsreel titled 'Terror grips Palestine' shows passports of Jews being checked as they leave the country. They board a train and wave goodbye. A ship carrying large number of Jews arrives at the coast and the injured are being carried away. People disembark from the ship. Bomb blast occurs at British Officers Club in Palestine killing 16 people. Injured being carried out from a wrecked building by the soldiers. Suspects being arrested and captives being searched for weapons. Soldiers patrol the streets as Martial Law is imposed in the city.
A newsreel titled 'Martial law lifted in Palestine' shows, armed crewmen inspect a wrecked train after a bomb blast and guards patrol the area in Jerusalem, Palestine. Jewish agency executives including American representatives gather at a hospital to meet with President David Ben-Gurion and discuss the creation of a Jewish state. American representatives include Ms. Rose Halprin and Dr. Abba Silver. Martial law being lifted as people move out on streets and British soldiers remove barbed wire that had been dividing Jerusalem. Crowd of men, women, and children greet and mingle after the wire is removed.
A newsreel titled 'Natives Welcome Royalty' shows, Basotho dance with joy as they prepare to welcome the British Royal family in Basutoland, South Africa. Native South African tribe members ride on horse backs in a procession to welcome the King. In a military parade they escort the car of King George VI and the Queen. A large crowd comprising of Basothos gather to welcome the royal family including Princess Elizabeth.
A newsreel titled, 'World focus on Palestine' shows aftermath of a bomb blast at the Labor department headquarters in Palestine that killed 3 British soldiers. Injured being rescued from the wrecked building by soldiers as smoke rises from it. Tightened security as soldiers search people thoroughly on the streets. In France, 4500 Jewish refugees on board a ship Runnymede Park, being supplied with food and the injured being carried away for medical treatment.
A newsreel titled 'US-Russia back UN plan for Holy Land' shows European Jewish refugees on board a former American vessel as they reach Haifa Palestine after traveling from a Black Sea port. Writing on ship says "Haganah Ship - Jewish State". Passengers hold up a dead infant for those on the docks to see, a victim of the overcrowded ship conditions. British forces patrol the docks before passenger disembark. Fatigued refugees, including families with small children, disembark from the ship as the injured and sick are carried away on stretchers. Passengers are sprayed with delousing agent powder to control spread of disease. Other passengers seen embarking a ship from dock for transport to Cypress detention camps, rather than facing deportation to Europe. Scene change to United Nations meeting at Lake Success New York. United States delegate, Herschel Johnson, addresses a meeting of General Assembly's Special Committee on Palestine, expressing support for proposed partition of Palestine.
