Celebrities attend Invitational Premier of the film "The Chalk Garden."

In opening scene, photographers take pictures as Ernest Borgnine kisses Ethyl Merman, at the premier of the Ross Hunter film, "The Chalk Garden." Next, Joan Blondell is seen with her escort. Then, Ronald Reagan and his wife, Nancy, enter, smiling and conversing with others. They are followed by Hedy Lammar, in sparkling dress. Seen momentarily, Behind her (wearing glasses) is husband, Lewis J. Boies. Lamarr poses and smiles for photographers. Shirley Jones, arrives and then poses in front of the sign announcing the "Invitational Premier of Ross Hunter's Chalk Garden." Jacque Mapes, Jane Powell, and Nancy Sinatra, are escorted by Ross Hunter. They pose for cameramen. Ross Hunter holds some still photos and Mitzie Gaynor is seen holding one. A variety of airplanes parked at the Ford Airport, Dearborn, Michigan,at the start of the 1930 Ford Commercial Airplane reliability tour, AKA The National Air Tour for the Edsel B. Ford Reliability Trophy. Red, White, and blue bunting decorates the airport building. In the distance, the Clock Tower, at Greenfield Village can be seen. Some pilots start their engines. At TC: 00:40 Nancy Hopkins, the only woman pilot in the event (and her own mechanic), is seen walking toward the camera, smiling and folding a paper. At TC:00:45, Aviator Jimmy Doolittle is seen standing by the leading edge of an airplane wing, with his hand on the pitot tube. Edsel Ford and an assistant control the start of airplanes, each at a specific time. They signal each pilot to start, using a white flag. The last plane seen taking off is number 22, a Viking Kitty Hawk B4 biplane, piloted by Nancy Hopkins.

Scene changes to soldiers at camp, where a tent, a shed, and a building surrounded by scaffolding, are seen. Soldiers neat the tent have placed a very long ladder against a tree. Closer views of soldiers in and around the tent. A Dutch officer speaks with a group of Soldiers. Next, a group of soldiers is seen running along a path, where several pup tents have been pitched. The occupants of one tent grab their weapons and join the group that is now assembling in loose formation.
