U.S. Army Cavalry Unit trains at Fort Crook, Nebraska during the period of American involvement in the Mexican Revolution
Contingent of U.S. cavalry arrive at a grove on training grounds of Fort Crook, Nebraska. They are mounted in formation. On their commander's order, the entire formation backs up and moves forward, again, in unison. The cavalrymen dismount. In another sequence, a small group of cavalry gallop from the distance, up a hill and stop short of the camera. Next scene shows dismounted cavalry lined up in front of stables. They mount their horses in unison, at a command. Their commander faces them, as three mounted buglers, behind him sound a bugle call. His horse paces about a bit as the bugles blow. In next sequence, several dismounted soldiers set up an artillery observation post, including a telescope on a tripod, in a field, as a mounted officer watches. An officer directs a cavalryman who sets a flag in the field. Back at the stables, mounted officers lead a group of soldiers pulling caissons and artillery pieces, with teams of horses. Dismounted soldiers are assembled with grazing horses, at the grove seen earlier. An officer arrives and issues an order. The soldiers mount and form up before moving out as a unit.
United States Air Force Strategic Air Command (SAC) Command Post operations
Views inside the Strategic Air Command Headquarters Command and Control Center at Offutt Air Force Base, near Omaha, Nebraska. Six huge display screens cover the wall and controllers at monitoring stations are seen in semi-dark environment. An Air force Senior Master Sergeant stands near one of the control stations, as he calls up various computer-driven displays, which are shown onmonitors depicting the distribution and status of SAC's world wide assets at any moment. An Air Force Colonel occupies the Senior Controller's position on the main floor of the Command Post. Camera focuses on the Colonel, and his "fruit salad" (rows of military ribbons); his Command Pilot's wings; and the eagle's on the shoulders of his uniform. Scene shifts to variety of telephones in different colors. Looking over the shoulder of the Colonel, the camera focuses on a gold phone providing a direct line to the President of the United States; the National Military Command Center in Washington, DC; and to other Major Command Headquarters. Red and Gray phones comprise SACs primary alert system and show numerous connections to sites in the 2nd and 15th Air Forces. Closeup of the red phone control board. Film opens with February 1st, 1967 Change of Command Ceremony for Commanders in Chief of U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command (SAC). General John Dale Ryan is assuming command from General Joseph J. Nazzaro. A color guard stands with American flag flanked by flags of Air Force, SAC, units, and award ribbons. A military marching band marches in front of a stage (reviewing stand) where Generals and guests are seated, including Generals Nazarro and Ryan, plus the Commanders of SAC's three Air Forces. Civilian leaders present included Nebraska Governor and Mrs. Norbert Tiemann. Closeup of General Ryan. View of Governor and Mrs. Tiemann standing amongst six Air Force Generals.
