Entourage of President Franklin Roosevelt passes by troops assembled at attention. President Roosevelt seen seated in front seat of his car, atop drivers seat to view as U.S. Army soldiers and equipment pass in review. Soldiers carrying full equipment march past the President. Horses carrying supplies follow the troops. Trucks carrying equipment and long boats pass. Next are armored trucks & weapons carriers lined up for inspection. Camera view alternates between troops being reviewed and view of the President as he watches and talks to military and civilian staff around his car. Jeeps pass in review with mounted machine guns. From a documentary about American Contralto, Marian Anderson, one of the leading classical singers in America. Marian Anderson accompanied by a pianist appears on the stage during a concert and sings the song "Oh What a Beautiful City." The concert hall roars with applause from the audience. Marian sings several songs while the pianist plays. Close-ups of Marian Anderson singing during the concert. Entire audience mesmerized with her voice. She also sings "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" and "Crucifixtion" (He Never Said a Mumblin Word), followed by reverent silence in the audience.

Sharpening an oil drilling bit. A worker holds hot steel oil drill (bit) with tongs. Another worker pounds it with a sledge hammer. A fish tail is fashioned into the bit.The newly sharpened fishtail bit,now fastened to the end of a drill shaft, is lowered into the drill hole. Then a heavy steel pipe is forced down into the drill hole. Roughnecks fasten the new section of pipe to another above it and lower the pipes and drill into the hole. At a depth of 2300 feet, The well yields muddy water with traces of oil in it. Supervisors, in a group, check carefully for the presence of oil.
Oil drillers "shoot" a well by exploding nitroglycerine in the oil sand. Man is seen pouring liquid nitro-glycerine into a device at the well. A man poses holding a drill bit. The exploding nitro, deep in the well, creates a gusher. Crude oil is seen gushing from the well hole. Roughnecks work to cap the gusher. Construction workers build temporary storage tanks for oil from the well.
