During a bank holiday two day after the inauguration of Franklin D Roosevelt as the President of the US, vehicles move on the streets. Long lines of civilians move on the streets. Man makes a genuine hand made "depression dollar." which is made out of rubber. He demonstrates how it can grow for inflation by stretching. He displays the dollar designed for inflation. Other man stretches the dollar. Man approaches a merchant. He exchanges his guitar for basket of fruits under the barter system which was common in the depression. Footage is from a 1958 newsreel recounting events 25 years earlier.
Lions Clubs International parade in Chicago, Illinois. Large crowd gathered during the official opening of the Lions International 1958 Convention. People participate in the gala rally. They march holding various nations flags. Women walk holding Lions International flag. Men walk on stilts during the parade. Women seated in decorative floats as they wave at the crowd.
Citizens urge for criminal search in Princeton, Florida. A large crowd of citizens gathered at the home of the abducted 5 year old child James Cash Junior. Vehicles parked in front of the combination house and store of the Cash family. A man shows the windows and gateway of the house from where the child was stolen, and screen torn on screen door where abductor gained access. The citizens in town gather together supporting the search for the kidnapped boy. (Later that month Frank McCall confessed to the kidnapping and murder of James Cash Jr.)
