Farmers drive wagons filled with milk cans, into Hyde Park, during World War 1. Volunteers help unload the milk cans and line them up along a walkway. Afterwards, they clean their hands in the park lake. A new slate speaks of need to conserve petrol. Men stand looking over stacks of petrol (gasoline) cans in another area of the park. Two trucks (lorries) drive between the stacks of cans. Scene reverts again to volunteers washing their hands in the lake, and to men moving cans of milk. Next, British soldiers in uniform, are seen helping to move milk cans. Scene changes to a long queue of men and women waiting for public transport. Double-decker buses move through the area. A glimpse of a railroad train station, is followed by another look at the men washing hands in the lake. A line of empty trucks leaves the park. A final view of stacked milk cans.

Japanese-American Army engineers of 442nd Regimental Combat Team in training at Camp Shelby, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, United States. They travel in amphibious jeeps and regular jeeps over sandy terrain in woods. At a river, a reconnaissance team enters the water in an amphibious jeep to study the river conditions and find a suitable anchor point on the opposite shore. They return, report to their Commander, and then rush to work on the bridge. Engineers work on stakes and ropes at near shore while a team in a rubber boat goes to the anchor point across the river. Engineers assemble sections of the pontoon bridge and float them in place across the river. They then pick up their rifles and run across the new bridge to take up battle positions on the other side. Their leader reports to a Captain who commands their contingent. (World War II period).

4th Division U.S. Marines in final phases of the battle for Iwo Jima, in World War 2. U.S. marine walks across rocks with destroyed vegetation behind him. A demolition charge explodes in the rocks and several Japanese soldiers emerge to surrender. Scene shifts to a Japanese stronghold in a cave. A Japanese officer stands with a U.S. marine outside the cave. A Japanese defender emerges and talks with the Japanese officer, who then tells the marine there are two more Japanese soldiers in the cave. The marine helps the Japanese soldier out of the cave. Scene changes to another Japanese stronghold, where a marine throws a line up to another marine standing atop the rocky outcropping. Next scene shows a demolition charge exploding at the site. In a new sequence, four U.S. marines carry a wounded comrade and place his litter on the ground where another team picks it up and carries it. View from high ground of Mount Suribachi, seen above mist, on distant end of the island. A truck moving rapidly over a dirt road on the island.
