Two men load cargo into cabin of a aircraft (autogyro) that appears to obtain lift, from two coaxial counter-rotating large wings atop the craft. The "wings," or rotors, are very wide, and contain moveable flight surfaces (ailerons). Forward thrust is provided by an unenclosed radial engine driving a large propeller. The hybrid helicopter autogyro aircraft is also equipped with empennage. It is parked in a fenced area. A considerable amount of cargo sits on the ground, ready to be loaded. Scene shifts to possibly unrelated image of an unkempt man wearing a headset.
Model airplane builders and enthusiasts walk together carrying their respective model airplanes, in a gathering on an airfield. Some of the model airplanes have Academy of Model Aeronautics numbers painted on their wings, such as, AMA-6744, which can be seen on one. A large tent is seen in the background, as well as automobiles, a fuel truck, and airplanes, in the distance.
Jersey Ringel, aerial wing-walker and acrobat, stands on wing of a Curtis JN-4 airplane and then jumps to the wing of another, while inflight. He swings from a ring under the wing of the second JN-4. His name: "Jersey" Ringel, is displayed on fuselage of the airplane.
U.S. Air Force F-86 (North American Sabrejet) fighter airplane taxis on tarmac at an American airfield. Two ground crewmen stand at edge of ramp. The cockpit canopy is open and pilot visible.
Historic scenes in development of U.S. Naval aviation. Early flying boat. Numerous scenes of landing incidents and accidents aboard early U.S. aircraft carriers. Aircraft falling off the sides and ends of the flight decks. Landing with only one gear extended.
A momentary glimpse (only two seconds) of a U.S. Air Force B-17 bomber, in flight.
