United States aircraft lands at construction site of Camp Century in Greenland. Polar cabs also arrive and officers greet each other. Officers at a meeting discuss the plans for construction of the Camp. A senior officer presides over the meeting and an animation of the camp indicates communication trench, area for housing, support facilities. Officer smokes a cigar as he conducts the meeting.
A snow milling machine cuts trenches to construct Camp Century in Greenland. Men of United States Army engineers put planks on shoulder of a trench. A sled dog helps out men. Trench cut by snow milling machine. Men place overlapping steel arches on the trenches to cover them. Men cut snow bricks. Engineers cut passage inside the tunnel with a shovel and men level the floor. Wood planks being placed a few feet above the ground. A vehicle carries pre fabricated sections to the tunnel and men place these sections to construct a camp unit. A man draws up electrical wires. Officer marks the completed unit on a map. Men build a snow brick wall at the entrance of the tunnel. Snow pushed into the doorway by a machine. A man and a dog get down the stairs at the entrance of the trench.
Allied invasion of Normandy, France during World War II (D-Day). Men allotted currency to be used during the invasion. Men help to unload parapak bundles from a truck. They attach parapaks to under side of a fuselage of United States C-47 aircraft. A fuel truck parked in front of a C-47 plane, 440th TG on bumper of the truck. Two men ride a captured Sd.Kfz.2 (German: Sonderkraftfahrzeug 2) half-track motorcycle with a single front wheel, also known as the Kleines Kettenkraftrad HK 101 tracked motorcycle, down the street. Vehicle tows a small trailer loaded with ammunition. U.S, soldiers march German prisoners of war in the streets.
