Dr Maurer talks about the work and the contribution of General Eaker in the U.S. Air Force. He says that General Eaker was the Commander of the 8th Air Force. In 1944, he became the Commander in Chief of the Mediterranean Allied Air Force. Then from 1945 until his retirement in 1947, he was the deputy commander of the Army Air Forces and chief of the Air Staff. General Eaker talks about his experiences. He talks about the first airplane flight he saw. He further speaks that he was sent to a training camp in 1917. A man came in the camp looking for some fliers. He was already selected for an examination of regular army. He says that in November 1917, he was on a parade grounds. An airplane was in flight overhead. The aircraft landed and he looked at the engine of the aircraft.

He says that U.S. Army General Henry Arnold told them about the President's decision to discontinue the bombardment at daytime and join the British bombers in the night bombing. He told General Arnold that it was not possible as they were not ready for the night bombing, nor their crews were trained for night bombing. He advised to continue the daylight bombing. He presented a number of reasons for the same. They were then allowed to continue with the daylight bombing.

General Eaker talks about his most interesting experience when he was transferred to the Philippines in 1919. He talks about his work at Rockwell Field. The Commander was Colonel Henry Arnold and executive officer was Major Carl Andrew Spaatz. He was among a few regular officers. Colonel Arnold selects one officer to recruit a squadron for the Philippines. Arnold and Spaatz asked his recommendation for the purpose. Then he recruited 60 people and took them to the Philippines. They prepared their aircraft. He says that while flying back from Manila Bay, he was not able to control his airplane because of the clouds and other problems. Then he with other officer started to work out on a system where they could fly in the clouds. They flew with some instruments to prevent any accidents due to the clouds.
