Opening scene shows a Boeing B-24 Liberator bomber arriving at an airfield in the Caribbean during World War 2 . U.S. First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt steps from the aircraft, stopping here on one of her many trips. She strolls among U.S. servicemen and others. She is escorted by a General and reviews American Troops on parade at an army base. Scene shifts abruptly to the Cockatoo Island Dockyard, Sydney in New South Wales Sydney Australia, where the Australian Destroyer, Bataan, is being Christened on 15 January 1944 by Jean MacArthur, the wife of General Douglas MacArthur. Dockyard workers drive wedges from beneath the destroyer's hull, to free her for launching. Mrs. MacArthur announces the name, Bataan, and swings a bottle of champaign to christen her. The ship proceeds down the ways. View from below of sailors on deck as she launches.

United States Army Sergeant James Mansfield introduces the story of United States Seventh Army in the Allied Invasion of Southern France, "Operation Dragoon." Army Colonel William Wilson Quinn seated in office, with army rifle on his desk. He refers to the "Blue Badge" which is the Army infantryman's badge. Then he introduces the story of the Seventh United States Army: On 14 August 1944 Bay of Naples is seen as an open air Marshalling area. Barrage balloons float above the area. USS LST-831 in amphibious assault training with elements of U.S. 2nd Marine Division during World War II
Landing Ship Tank, LST-831, carrying elements of the 2nd Marine Division, in amphibious assault rehearsal training in Northern Mariana Islands during World War 2. She displays red flag with white stripe, as a secondary control ship for Red Beach. (Later, in the Battle of Okinawa, they would be part of a demonstration Tractor Group making diversionary attacks on the Southeastern coast). She arrives at beach with bow doors open, lowers her ramp, and a landing vehicle tracked (LVT) exits onto the beach. A bright orange flag flutters on beach in front of the camera, where it has been planted to guide boats during the exercise. LST-831 then backs away from the beach to allow LVTs to get experience operating in deep water. Remaining footage shows LVTs making their way through the water, loaded with Marines. Japanese natural resources related to Second Sino-Japanese war and World War II
Animated map illustrating shortage of indigenous raw materials in Japan. As stockpiles vanish during Second Sino-Japanese war, Japan's domestic sources supply only 10% of the nation's needs for war. Animated sequence shows lack of steel, aluminum, copper, and power generation for the conduct of war. But one of the nation's greatest resources is the population of skilled Japanese workers, who are shown at various high tech jobs, as well as on the farms and in the fishing industry. Japanese workers are seen who work for the Zaibatsu (four ruling families of Japan). Banks of Japanese women typists and women in a factory. Young women painting faces on a "Kewpie doll." A Japanese family at dinner time. Women engaged in fabric spinning. Animated graphic illustrates Japan's war-related resources for World War 2, by showing a Japanese soldier standing astride map of Japan with lines extending to sources of needed raw materials from Japanese possessions in Korea, Manchuria,Formosa, China,Indochina,Malaya, and its network of Pacific Islands. Final scene displays copy of Los Angeles Times newspaper with headline reading: "Jap Supply Lines Blasted." It also features a story that appears to refer to the U.S. 6th Army invasion of Leyte in the Philippines, in October, 1944 (when General MacArthur waded ashore and stated,"I have returned"). (Note: Although produced during World War 2, this film shows prewar scenes of Japan. The animated illustrations and maps and, of course, the newspaper shown at the end, date from World War II.)
