The role of Signal Corps during the Philippines Campaign of World War II.
The role and contribution of the U.S. Army Signal Corps in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War 2. A beach on the Philippine island of Mindanao. U.S. aircraft in flight over the coastline. Signal Officer Lieutenant Leon Tinnell works at the Signal Headquarters. He talks on the radio receiver. He radios a message to U.S. Army General Douglas MacArthur's headquarters reporting on movement of Japanese troops. U.S. aircraft take off for a mission against the Japanese troops. They drop bombs on Japanese ships. Smoke from fire due to the explosions. A U.S. submarine near a battleship at sea. U.S. Navy sailors aboard the ship and the submarine. Wounded and sick officers and soldiers including Lt. Tinnell are transferred from the submarine onto the ship. Soldiers carry a comrade on a stretcher. Landing crafts approach an island in the Philippines. General MacArthur and Allied troops land at Leyte Island on October 20, 1944. They leave the crafts off shore and wade through the water towards the beach. Signal Corps officers record the event as General MacArthur and the others make their way inland.

German rocket pioneer, Gerhard Zucker, attempting to develop postal rockets in the 1930s. Location is Wadden Sea off Cuxhaven, on April 9, 1933, where Zucker follows Nazi Sturmabteilung (also called SA or Stormtroopers) carrying the mail rocket across wet sands. The rocket is set up on a launch stand. Zucker and an assistant ignite the 8 side rockets and the mail rocket takes off. It noses up and loops over backwards, falling to the sand. German Stormtroopers lift up the damaged device. Next, is seen a later, more modern, rocket trial ending in failure. Two German engineers display a model similar to the pulse-jet-powered "buzz bomb" (V-1) employed by the Nazis in World War 2. A brief glimpse of similar American machine on sand flat, as narrator states German acknowledgement of knowledge gleaned from Dr. Robert Goddard's work. Axis leaders celebrate the 1940 Tripartite Pact between German, Italy and Japan. The festivities take place in a hall displaying the three nation's flags on the walls. A large number of persons attend including Japan's Prime Minister, General Hideki Tojo, seen with two celebrants. Scene reverts to China with Chinese civilian people trying to escape from invading Japanese forces. The refugees carry their belongings as they flee. Occasional shell burst is seen among advancing Japanese troops as Chinese soldiers put up resistance. Chinese soldiers firing artillery. U.S. offensives against Japan in the Pacific Theater during World War 2. A United States Carrier Task Force in the Pacific Ocean. Fighter planes and dive bombers on the deck of the Task Force. Sailors push trolleys containing bombs. A map shows Marshall Islands. Douglas Dauntless dive bombers take off to strike against the enemy. U.S. Navy fighter planes engage defending Japanese aircraft and down many of them, as seen in gun camera footage. The first wave of Douglas Dauntless dive bombers returns to its carrier for refueling, rearming, and debriefing. Sailors on the aircraft carrier man anti-aircraft guns to defend against attacking Japanese aircraft.
