German General Friedrich Paulus visits Hitler at the Wolf's Lair Headquarters during World War II. Bulgarian Prime Minister, Dobri Bozhilov, also visits
German General Friedrich Paulus arrives by car at Hitler's Wolf's Lair (Wolfsschanze) Eastern headquarters near the East Prussian town of Rastenburg, during World War 2. Paulus is greeted by a German Colonel, who escorts him to the entrance of a building where he is more formally greeted by Field Marshal Wilhelm Keitel. Scene shifts to General Franz Halder, Chief of the German General staff, personally greeting him, as well. Next, Paulus gives Nazi salute as Adolf Hitler walks toward him to welcome him to the Wolf's lair. They exchange handshakes. He is seen to say: "Mein Fuhrer" as he steps back. Others greet Hitler and exchange salutes with Hitler. Then Hitler walks away. Complete change of scene, to a different occasion, shows a sedan arriving carrying Dobri Bozhilov, Prime Minister of Bulgaria. Next view is inside the building, where Hitler strolls in and greets Bozhilov, who bows deeply as he shakes hands with him.

The Rise of Japanese militarism in the 20th Century
Film opens showing reenactment of Japanese attack ostensibly against Formosa, in 1894. Japanese troops and artillery are shown. The event is depicted in a critical political cartoon. Next, Japanese Admiral Heihachiro Togo is seen in 1904, standing with other naval officers. Then, Japanese warships are shown, firing barrages of naval gunfire at the Russian fleet in Port Arthur, Manchuria. Huge black clouds arise from burning ships. Scenes of Japanese people celebrating their naval victory. Date shifts to 1910. Cartoon depicts Japanese annexation of Korea. Cartoon illustrates Japanese actions in World War I when, siding with the Allies, Japan acquired the German-held Shandong (Shantung) Peninsula of China, as well as German-held Marianas, Carolines, and Marshalls islands in the Pacific. Japanese representatives are seen participating in Post World War 1 international activities. They signed the so-called Five-Power,Four-Power, and Nine-Power treaties, and participated in the League of Nations. Glimpse of two Japanese officers, followed by cartoon depiction of the Mariana, Caroline, and Marshall Islands, that Japan insisted on keeping. Cartoon shows them being fortified. Slate goes on to quote about attack on Hawaii as the first battle in war of the Pacific. Film cites another approved Japanese publication: "Arguments Against American Policies" by Kawashima Seichiro, Christmas Day, 1924. It discusses distruction of the American fleet and subsequent landing on the U.S. West Coast.
Lend Lease materials transported across the world by convoys of American and British ships in World War II
Opening scene shows Lend Lease military equipment covered with canvas, at a port in the United States, during World War 2. A B-26 bomber with wings removed outboard of its engines, is being maneuvered for shipment at a port in the United States. A Lockheed P-38 airplane is moved on a crane and then rolled along a pier toward the stern of the U.S. Light Cruiser, USS Phoenix (CL-46) which is docked there. Wings of a Curtiss SOC-1 Seagull scout plane can be seen on the Phoenix. Two more P-38 aircraft are rolled along the pier, past another Brooklyn class Light Cruiser at the end of the pier. (Her triple 6-inch gun turrets are noticeable.) Crated supplies are seen being lowered into ship cargo holds. An American M2 light tank being lowered from a crane. An American M3 Lee tank being secured in a ship. Numerous tanks in a ship’s cargo hold. Next, a convoy of ships carrying war materiel overseas is seen at sea. General Hugh Drum and James M. Landis, Civil Defense Chief, announce Proclamation restricting movements of civilians in U.S.
World War II restrictions on movements of civilians in the Eastern United States, are referenced by U.S. Army Lieutenant General Hugh Aloysius Drum, Commander of the Eastern Defense Command, and Mr. James M. Landis, Director of the U.S. Office of Civil Defense. They look at a large map showing the U.S. Eastern states and coast, from Maine to Florida. General Drum discusses Public Proclamation number 4 issued by the War Department, and urges citizens to read it. (It is posted in U.S. Post Offices and describes restrictions on the movements of citizens near war plants and beaches.) General Drum speaks of a uniform system of controls needed for U.S. Civil Defense. James M. Landis, Director of the Office of Civilian Defense, adds his comments about the importance of Civil Defense measures.
Launching of the USS Iowa (BB-61) in New York, and of her sister ship, USS New Jersey (BB-62),in Philadelphia, during World War II..
Camera pans vertically from top to bottom over the bow of the USS Iowa (BB-61) as she is ready for launching at the Brooklyn Navy yard in New York City, on August 22, 1942. Sponsor of the ship, Ilo Browne Wallace, wife of Vice President Henry A. Wallace, Christens the Iowa by breaking a bottle of champagne over her bow, and the ship moves down the ways toward the East River. The Williamsburg Bridge is seen dimly in the background, as the Iowa plunges into the water. Camera focuses, next, on the USS New Jersey (BB-62) ready for launching at the Philadelphia Navy Yard on December 7, 1942. Men knock supports from below the New Jersey, in preparation for her launching. Next, she is seen moving down the ways. Closeups of some shipyard workers smiling as the New Jersey is launched.
