Montage of scenes from immediate Post-World War I Germany and into the 1930s
A crowd of Gernan civilians is seen gathered in front of the Alte Nationalgalerie in Berlin, Germany. Glimpses of Leaders, of the German Communist Spartacus League, including Rosa Luxemburg. Scenes of unrest during the Spartacist uprising (Spartakusaufstand) in January, 1919. Scenes of post-World War hardship and deprivation for German citizens, who are shown living in improvised housing, cooking outdoors, scavenging for coal. A sign is displayed for the Winterhilfswerk (WHW) Winter Relief program run in the 1930s by the Nationalsozialistische Volkswohlfahrt (National Socialist People's Welfare). It states its aim against Hunger and Cold (Gegen Hunger u Kalte). Uniformed persons with swastika arm bands, including Joseph Goebbels, and Hermann Goering, of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nazi Party), are seen surrounded by enthusiastic German citizens. Closeup of hot meal being dispensed and people eating. A sign in the background refers to the People's Welfare Program. People gathered in an outdoor food dispensing station, under a banner reading: "Berlin isst heute sein eintopfgericht" (Berlin is eating its stew today). Another glimpse of hot food being ladled into a dish. Adolf Hitler stands and gives a haranguing speech from a table where Nazi party members are seated. A banner on the front of a steam locomotive announces Winter Aid donation related to East Hannover (Winterhilfe Spende gau Ost-Hannover). Another sign refers to the 1936-1937 Winter Relief program (WHW) donation related to East Hannover (Gau Ost-Hannover Gifhorn W.H.W. Spende). Railroad train box cars are seen transporting contributions, from various places in Germany, to the program.
German rocket developments during 1930s
A man holds two rockets. The one shown on the left with the white nose is a double rocket. (These were demonstrated for the Navy at Meppen.) Flag flying over a cabin (named "Arenshorst," by Reinhard Tiling) as rocket firing trials get underway on the island of Wangerooge in the North Sea,during December 1930. Reinhard Tiling emergea from the cabin, carrying a long slender rocket . His assistant Angela Buddenboehmer, and another man (possibly Richard Tiling) follow him across the sand dunes. Two photographers are present and several other men. Tiling inserts the rocket into a launch frame already set up. The team elevates the launcher and Tiling makes some adjustment. At a signal from Tiling, Angela Buddenboehmer pushes a plunger on the ignition control box and the rocket fires and rises. Reinhard Tiling, Buddenboehmer, and Richard Tiling watch it in the sky. Several more launches are shown. Pictures of rocket projectile missiles being launched at Dummersee on April 15, 1931, and of larger missiles at later times.

German rocket pioneer, Gerhard Zucker, attempting to develop postal rockets in the 1930s. Location is Wadden Sea off Cuxhaven, on April 9, 1933, where Zucker follows Nazi Sturmabteilung (also called SA or Stormtroopers) carrying the mail rocket across wet sands. The rocket is set up on a launch stand. Zucker and an assistant ignite the 8 side rockets and the mail rocket takes off. It noses up and loops over backwards, falling to the sand. German Stormtroopers lift up the damaged device. Next, is seen a later, more modern, rocket trial ending in failure. Two German engineers display a model similar to the pulse-jet-powered "buzz bomb" (V-1) employed by the Nazis in World War 2. A brief glimpse of similar American machine on sand flat, as narrator states German acknowledgement of knowledge gleaned from Dr. Robert Goddard's work.
