Brazil takes possession of USS Philadelphia and USS St. Louis ships at Philadelphia Naval Yard.

Occasion is the transfer to Brazil of the USS Philadelphia (CL-41) and the USS St. Louis (CL-49). A number of U.S. Navy warships are docked as part of the U.S. Atlantic Reserve Fleet at Philadelphia Naval Yard in Pennsylvania. Rear Admiral Schuirmann comes aboard the USS Philadelphia (CL-41) light cruiser prior to the transfer ceremony.
