A World War 1 French soldier and his dog, seeking cover from enemy fire, run across a street in a French town. The soldier steps on a board leaning against a tall brick wall, throws his rifle over the wall and then jumps over it, himself. His dog tries to follow him, is unsuccessful on the first attempt, but succeeds on the second try in leaping to the top of the wall, and then over.
