During World War 1, the SMS Szent Istvan (Saint Stephen), a Austro-Hungarian Battleship, is seen capsizing after a torpedo attack off the Dalmation Coast by Italian torpedo boats. Close view as the ship rolls over while crew member clamber across her hull in effort save themselves. Some surviving crew are rescued on lifeboats. A submarine,operating on the surface, launches a torpedo. A submarine begins to dive. A merchant ship is torpedoed and sunk. Battleship sinking scenes are repeated.
King George V and Queen Mary with officials visit a defense factory in Liverpool during World War 1. They greet a number of the war production workers, personally. In change of scene, the royal couple and entourage visit with military nurses and doctors waiting to greet them. The Queen carries a parasol as they walk. . They greet a group of local officials, individually, as they are introduced by a woman escort, reading from a list. A large group of well-wishers stand outdoors with children at their front, to greet the King and Queen. They wave as the royal motorcar drives away, near a harbor.
Several British submarines on the surface nest to a tender, near a steel railroad bridge in the United Kingdom, during World War 1.. On one submarine, smoke stacks are rotated down to nest inside the deck and their openings sealed with hatches.The boat then submerges.in the water. It later surfaces, raises its smoke stacks and proceeds on the surface with smoke billowing from its stacks. Officers assemble on deck in front of a smoke stack with 'K6' stenciled on it. A huge crowd gathers on the road in a heavy downpour to celebrate 'Armistice Day' in London. Queen Mary along with other members of the Royal Family appears on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. The crowd cheers. The Queen and King emerge from St. Paul’s Cathedral (St. Paul's Churchyard, London EC4M 8AD, United Kingdom) following a Thanksgiving Service for the Armistice, and they enter and sit in a landau carriage.
