German soldiers march into Passau, Germany on their way to occupy Austria (Anschluss) prior to World War II. German soldiers and horses walk on a bridge over the Danube River in Passau, Germany. Cavalry units and vehicles also move across the bridge. People gather on a street. They cheer and wave. Soldiers march in formation. Children cheer. Civilians perform the Nazi Salute and chant “Sieg Heil” repeatedly.
Opening scenes show Czech soldiers in retreat and withdrawal in Czechoslovakia after Munich Agreement makes way for Czechoslovakia to cede Sudetenland regions to Nazi Germany. A huge crowd gathers in the streets in areas ceded to Germany and cheers German soldiers. Hermann Göring greets cheering citizens and gives a cookie or candy to a little girl. Events prior to World War II. German troops march towards Czechoslovakian border in Germany. In Italy Prime Minister Benito Mussolini delivers a speech. He declares that Italy is allied with Germany in times of war and peace. His followers cheer after the declaration is made.

Tremendous crowds of Austrians assemble at Heldenplatz, in front of the Hofburg Palace, in Vienna (Heldenplatz - 1010 Vienna). Adolf Hitler’s motorcade enters Heldenplatz. Adolf Hitler gives the Nazi Salute, then does a fist pump, to crowd as he rides into Vienna. Austrians crowd in Heldenplatz, some find space in tree branches and in monument equestrian statue of Prince Eugene of Savoy-Carignano located in the middle of the square. From the balcony of the Hofburg Palace, Adolf Hitler makes a ceremonial announcement of the annexation of Austria (Anschluss) into Nazi Germany. Austrians holding Nazi banners watch the ceremonial announcement in Heldenplatz. Adolf Hitler, Austrian officials and the crowd give the Nazi salute after the official Anschluss announcement.
Protest against Nazi Germany held in New York City in the weeks after the Kristallnacht attacks on Jews in Germany. A sign reads "German Exposition Christmas Market Now Open." Anti-Nazi protesters march carrying picket signs along a sidewalk in front of the exposition of German goods. One of the signs reads "Boycott Nazi Goods." Another sign reads "German Exposition Christmas Market Dec 16-24". American and Nazi flags fly from the building.
