Film opens showing bouquets of flowers decorating the front of a house, during World War 2. A Russian woman is seen placing vases of flowers on a table inside the house. Next, a Soviet airman in uniform is seen seated. A slate is inserted saying (in Russian) he is a hero. The airman, surrounded by family members talks into a microphone describing his wartime experiences. He wears a heavy white glove on his right hand. Closeup of him talking. Another slate inserted reads: "Mother Hero" in Russian. His mother speaks to the camera and interviewers (unseen) as her airman son smokes a cigarette, held in his left hand. While she speaks, he reaches and touches her shoulder with his heavily gloved right hand. After she finishes speaking she leans down and kisses her son, as two girls (probably daughters) holding flowers smile.

Harry Hopkins, President Roosevelt's personal representative, departs Moscow after negotiating American Lend Lease assistance to the Soviet Union in World War II

Slate reads (in Russian) "Departure from Moscow by Mr. Harry Hopkins." Harry Hopkins, President Franklin Roosevelt's personal envoy, steps from a car and receives farewell expressions from a British Admiral and army officer, as he prepares to board an airplane departing Moscow, after negotiating American Lend Lease assistance to the Soviet Union, during World War 2. Soviet Chairman Mikhail Kalinin, arrives in a car and walks to the group saying goodby to Hopkins. Two Soviet officers and two men in civilian clothes stand on the airport ramp. American Ambassador, Lawrence Steinhardt and British Ambassador, Sir Stafford Cripps chat with an American Army Air Forces pilot. Group of diplomats and military officers gather wishing Hopkins well. Hopkins conversing with Chairman Kalinin. Hopkins making the rounds shaking hands with diplomats and a final vigorous one with Kalinin. He climbs aboard the waiting C-47 transport plane. It taxis out and is next seen flying overhead as those on the ground wave goodby.

Opening scene shows Soviet people seated aroung a long table. As names are called, individuals step forward and receive small boxes containing medals in recognition of their contributions to the nation during World War 2. Narrator announces their names as they come forward. Uniformed members of the military as well as civilians, receive the awards. Change of scene shows a seated group of army soldiers in uniform, as they listen to an officer speaking enthusiastically to them from a small group in front of them. They stand and applaud. A woman soldier in uniform addresses them. Camera focuses on several women soldiers in the large group. Another soldier also addresses the group. He raises a fist in emphasis as he speaks. The soldier audience stands and applauds.
